The ABC didnt “run a case”, they were called to defend their statements, and they lost. This is a WIN and a good one too. The only thing courts have less of than money is time, and the dollars are spent regardless of the subject. So no i do not agree that it is a waste of taxpayers money to fight corruption.
Comment on Australian Reporter Wins Suit Against ABC Over 'Anti-Semitic' Post
Zagorath@aussie.zone 3 days agoI don’t understand what you’re trying to say.
The ABC ran a bad case. It was bad from a legal standpoint. They lost it, and from the looks of it the judge didn’t have to think very hard to weigh up which way it would go.
It was bad from a moral standpoint. Even if they had been legally allowed to do it, it was obvious from the beginning that they were bowing to terrorists (namely: the pro-Israel lobby) by ousting an anti-genocide journalist.
In what world is it not a waste to spend resources on a case that is both legally and morally dubiously?

It can never be a waste to fight against corruption… it is simply “use”. The ABC was called to defend, not prosecute a case, and they lost. This is a WIN and i take exception to this outcome being descrbed as “a waste of taxpayer money”. The only thing the courts have less of than money is time. The dollars get spent regardless of the subject, and some issues (such as protections for free speech) really DO deserve as much time as possible being spent on them.

They didn’t have to defend. They wasted enormous resources in even trying. They both could and should have settled out of court over a year ago. The ABC wasted resources in choosing to run this case.
Why do you insist on defending the ABC here? They completely fucked up, multiple times, in multiple ways. They rolled over to genociders. Stop giving them credit by pretending that isn’t an enormous fucking waste of resources.

Nowhere did i defend the ABC. Stop trying to put words in my mouth. I have stated my reason clearly enough most would understand. If you cannot see the difference between celebrating a win and (somehow) championing government excess i can’t help you. The ABC is government owned and i would BET they are strongly compelled to fight litigation. I dont care. Like i said the money is spent anyway, what matters is the outcome, and i have reached my limit for talking to fools.

But that’s not what you’re doing. You’re saying we shouldn’t be criticising the ABC for their wastefulness in choosing to go ahead with this case.
If you cannot see the difference between celebrating a win and defending the wastefulness of the loser i can’t help you.
