I know we do it for the memes.
But he was genuinely innocent. Insufferable though he is as a character. And character is a deliberate choice of word.
I mean, he has admitted to cheating online. People that know more about chess and statistics than myself say he’s probably cheated more than what he admits to.
Regardless, he comes off as such an asshole that I can’t help but enjoy it every time he gets his ass handed to him.
Yes he cheated online. But according to all credible statisticians there was no reasonable evidence against him recently. Karpov was against him which only proves him as innocent (he later joined him as coach)
Not since he was 16 and got banned.
I do enjoy watching him lose too honestly.

Was this the story that he was using some sort of inserted sex toy to get info? I don’t follow chess but that’s obviously a very memorable headline. What was the follow up story, that it was just blatantly untrue?

Hikaru as a joke said he may have a vibrating buttplug to get info. People ran with it.
It was never meant seriously.
Hikaru is the chess personality I hate most.

Well deserved. Hikaru is the biggest drama frog in the chess community, and never misses a chance to fan the flames for entertainment’s sake. He’s a bully.
I’d be lying if I said I never guilty enjoyed watching any of it, though.
