Comment on This week's E-sylum has a piece on one of the USA's Trump commemorative
CoinOfNote@hcommons.social 6 days ago @leopardboy @numismatics I must admit, coin portraits of ANYONE are not usually my favourite coin designs - in this case, and without any comment either way on the person.... He looks angry?
Ok that got me wondering who looks the angriest on coins.. Google suggests Roman Emperor Caracalla, and particularly the "Murderous Tyrant" portrait on some Tetradrachms: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/caracalla-tetradrachm-from-the-prieur-collection-the-meanest-face-in-the-empire.348894/

@CoinOfNote @numismatics Oh, I love that coin! And now I’d really like to have one.
I do sometimes wish that US coins and currency went back to depictions of Liberty and other allegorical figures instead of real people.
@leopardboy @numismatics You've got some good eagles - though I think Germany has the award for the most varied images of eagles on their coins, and some interesting - and long running - commemorative series
