    But didn’t the republic also get alot of loans from the banking Clans?

      To an extent but this was primarily over trade and it’s on me for forgetting to mention the Trade Federation and stuff. I’m not actually sure who had more money because everything always seemed painted to be fairly even. So many parties on either side were backing that the finances got really muddy really fast.
