technically if they are isolated from other instances, they would be private. then you wouldnt be able to acces other content.

Lemmy actually needs more instances. Users shouldn’t depend on lemmy.world, lemmy.ml or even lemmy.ca, because for reasons like hosting for a lemmy can actually cost a lot. I want to add that a server can die at any time.\
I wish I could host a lemmy instance, but at this moment I can’t.
