Tgis might be an important detail to put in the post, but in the headline? It makes no sense past bigotry
I take issue with OP’s headline and the Post’s.
I agree, OP makes it out like it wasn’t an extreme act of violence, even though it did start as self defence.
It was never self defense. She starts the fight by spitting on the guy which is assault.

Was the mailman armed? If not i can’t really frame stabbing someone with a knife as self-defense.
