billiam0202@lemmy.world 1 year agoThere are optical HDMI cables with much longer maximum lengths than passive copper cables. I assume the electrical - optical conversion is done in the plug itself.

That is unbelievable, I never knew this. I can’t believe there is a terminal in the jack allowing for the conversion it’s really impressive.
