Comment on Instances are websites. Federation just means they can automatically communicate directly between multiple intakes, and share information without requiring user interaction.

Events could be federated, so could any blogs. Wordpress creates a community that’s viewable from lemmy for the blog, where users cannot post from, but can comment on

In this regard, l would say that you don’t need to haggle to register for a domain name like you have to do for a website having a .com or .org or .net extension.

Is it possible to create email ids for such instances to which mails can be easily sent from gmail or Yahoo mail or any other normal email address ?
