Comment on It's impossible to block every community you don't want to see on Lemmy.
NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 1 week agoI feel bittersweet about y’all opening us up to more instances because of that 😂 I have found a lot of new interesting communities, but the redundancy got a lot worse, for sure.
In my optimism, I tell myself that maybe these communities aren’t federated to each other so the creators didn’t know of another instance’s community with the exact same name and/or content.
But then I think you’re right. There’s a tonnnnnn of people shoving their shit in people’s faces. I don’t care for either arguments of politics on Lemmy. I’m on here to see some funny memes and interact with people on topics I’m interested in. But someone is alwayssssss shoving politics somewhere. I’ve had to block asklemmy even though I enjoyed some posts because I’m sick of the constant bad faith posts “hey fellow leftists, why are all conservatives evil doo doo heads who hate women? Please circlejerk with me on the 14th post like this on this community today.” Now pics is doing the same…ugh.
My filter is broke because I have a tonnnn of specific words that are not getting blocked. Even basic stuff like Trump/Elon etc. is letting in that stuff still. I don’t care if it’s positive or negative about them. I’m not interested. Sigh….lol

I can understand that.Yea it’s pretty much a toss up at this point. Yes I do like finding new communities and seeing new content, but the redundancy, yes, is over kill.
I remember some guy in an anime community saying the more down votes he got the more he’d double down on posting. Which you’d think he’d get the hint that no one wants to their content, but instead they posted more… lol
I think that has something to do with it to. Ppl getting mad no one wants to see their posts so they create more communities and post even more just to be obnoxious.
If this helps any, I’ve noticed blocking those users who post shit i don’t want to see really held clean up the feed. It takes A LOT of their posts out. But the only down side is that it shrinks the amount of ppl you can interact with. So there’s a trade off with that.
