You do know that it’s just 2 clicks to see a user’s modlog, right? It’s one of the options under the three dots icon on any comment they make
Comment on Ban for upvotes is real here?
Engywuck@lemm.ee 2 days agoSee, you’re part of the problem. And lol at the content removed for racist slur, when I didn’t have an idea that “Japs” was such (not everybody is from USA, you know…).

My question is what led the OP to check my modlog. If they are trying to invalidate my opinion, that’s not the way.

I’ve moderated a community on Reddit before and received ban appeals that look like this:
I said some mean stuff and I told them to shut up, and they were worthless. I understand it’s rude, but I don’t think that it’s enough to permanently ban me from participating in this subreddit.
Meanwhile, in the mod log, it’s revealed that the banned user didn’t say any of that — they actually just used the n-word.
As a result, people are sensitive that some people complaining about mod policies are actually racists that would rather lie than admit the real reason they were banned, even when the actual reason is public knowledge.

Well, not my case. Looks like once I used a pejorative term, just because I found it amusing (without knowing it was a racial slur in some countries). Shit may happen when you’re not a native speaker (and sometimes it happens even when you are).

I speak two languages. I learned pejorative terms fairly early on in my language learning endeavor since i prefer not to offend people for a simple mistake. Maybe you should do the same for english since you seem to be mostly fluent.

I speak 3 languages, for that matters, but let’s be real, one can’t be aware of each and every slightly offending term on each one of them. I can honestly say that I didn’t read about “japs” anywhere and that I just found it amusing when it came to my mind (the thread was about an amusing meme). Anyway, I’ll take care from now on.
