The EV maker on Jan. 2 reported its first decline in annual deliveries last year, and analysts expect sales to fall again this year for several reasons, including damage to the brand reputation by Chief Executive Elon Musk’s close work with U.S. President Donald Trump and support of far-right European politicians.

A new poll shows that 67% of Americans would not consider buying or leasing a Tesla vehicle – with most of them citing Elon Musk as the reason why.
The results from this survey clearly point toward Tesla having an Elon Musk problem.
If he were removed from the equation, Tesla would have much better chances in the US market.

If Musk is removed AND major changes are made to the brand then Tesla might have a long term chance in the US market.
I bought a Tesla before the Musk craziness was in full display, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t buy another one (or recommend them to others) unless they seriously redesigned the physical controls, and focused more on truly useful software features. Not just games, “fart mode”, and a full self driving system that’s been promised for a decade now…

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. I bought mine when we could still ignore the red flags and it’s still my favorite car feature wise, there are still so many things it does better than any car, still so many features not available on other vehicles for any price. The comparisons with Apple are apt - I could have been a lifelong customer. But wtf mental illness happened here? For the first time ever I’m embarrassed by what I drive. I don’t know what I’ll do next time I need a car, but it won’t be a Tesla without radical changes in leadership - and that Nazi is only the start. Every board member and executive who thinks that’s ok has to go

There are already a growing number of EV alternatives. I will definitely be looking at all of them a few years down the line when I decide to get rid of my Tesla.

A lot of choices don’t seem to be available in the US - Hyundai/kia seems best of what else is available in a lot of ways. I originally hoped the legacy American manufacturers were getting their shit together but it looks like they’re crawling back under their rocks.
I guess my biggest hope is that Lucid or Rivian are able to break out into mass production of their next generation
