486@lemmy.world 1 week agoOops, you are correct of course, 6A is what I meant, plain 6 should work fine also most of the time, but there is pretty much no point going for that, unless you have that deployed already.

Cat 6 should be fine for 10gbit, you only really need 6A if you’re running near power mains or something with a lot of noise.
Just don’t put Cat 5e in new installs and you’ll be fine.
