It’s literally a fascist government, what do you expect. They were fairly moderate until Trump’s election basically gave them permission to go nuts.

couch1potato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 week agoFrom what I read itsly “ended” it, but it’s not confirmed permanent yet, there will be a vote 60 days after march 28 to make it permanent. Their new restrictions are pretty extreme though. I would expect the vote to not pass, but some other version of this will get passed at some point.

yea, those are all the restrictions I mentioned above.
as far as I’m aware it’s just the “great” part that changed.
but those citizenship restrictions are no less onerous and still a great deal easier than most pther countries.
basically, as long as you have a parent or grandparent who is an Italian citizen or became one, you can become an Italian citizen also by filling out a form.
