I only watched the first episode, but jeez, this feels like school shooter anime. Our main character’s backstory feels like it’s tailor-made to strike at otaku/weeb’s worst fears (getting cucked, getting told they’re not a good enough man, not being successful at work, having to pay child support) in a way that feels really pandery. And main character is on his deathbed talking about how he’s such a nice guy and he should have just been an asshole instead, when he basically had no character traits before that point. Like, I’m all for villain stories, they can be really fun, but trying to soften them by giving them a tragic backstory IMO just ruins it. Post-isekai, the cast gives off a distinct “we have shadow-sama at home”, too, which isn’t great. Overall, I give the premiere a 2/5.
