Maybe it’s just my grudge against what I’d call “english class fiction” but I had a hard time getting into the story here. It just felt very slow and boring to me, and I found Anne’s energy to be exhausting. The visuals are stunning and the whole anime feels well-made, but it’s just not really for me. I feel like the Anne of Green Gables fans are probably very happy with this adaptation. I give the premiere a 4/5 on production values alone, but I won’t be back for episode 2.
