It would be really nice if upgrading the engine was something the average person could just do. That’s feasible on EVs, but I’m guessing manufacturers and regulators block it.

Can I take a Tesla Model 3 or Chevy Bolt and throw on a second motor? Can I add some additional battery capacity in the back?

In theory, yes, of course. It won’t bolt right in, obviously.
