Dude don’t remind me. When I saw those I always thought they were contradictions of modern tech which was embodied in the whole advance HIFI shit. I mean how could you look at pulsing meters and blinking lights and not thing star wars, but clothed in wood grain…huh?

Faux-wood was just everywhere at the time indeed. It was a mix of the materials getting affordable and a certain commodification of the hippie aesthetic.
