I’ve seen self-hosted matrix servers with 500+ users. So I don’t think it’s a cap, more of a recommendation.

unmagical@lemmy.ml 3 days agoYeah, Element on Matrix was the most promising thing I’d seen so far, but the ease of use and the community edition being capped at 100 peeps were the most concerning aspects for me. I might dig into it some more and see what a couple other volunteers think of it.

You could use a different homeserver like tuwunel (a conduit fork), which is wayy easier to setup than the official one.

The 100 users for the Community edition is more of a suggestion and is not a hard cap, according to this answer: github.com/element-hq/ess-helm/issues/1027
