North America is a continent whith countries such as Canada or Mexico (for now).

Central America and South America exists too

The Americas, sometimes collectively called America, are a landmass comprising the totality of North America and South America.

I mentioned Mexico and Canada because, when interacting with US americans online, the corolary is the knowledge of geography is inversely proportional to the distance to the borders of the U S of A. I was trying not to be ableist.
