Yeah, the final battle was definitely not a highlight. It took me multiple tries because I got caught off by the traps but in my final attempt I just killed the main boss and completely ignored his companions. I took a look in the wiki afterwards and found out that I haven’t even SEEN all of his mates :D
Comment on Baldurs Gate 1 is a fantastic adventure

I played BG1 through in 2002 and the only real letdown was the final battle. I was expecting real challenge and as my first move I hurled every explosive potion and arrow towards the boss. It was over before it even really began.
Some years ago I did a replay with the Enhanced Edition and was happy to discover that this tactic had been nerfed and I had to actually fight to win.
BG2 was and still is amazing, especially if you import your characters from BG1 and don’t have to spend time leveling up in the beginning.
I haven’t had the time to try BG3 yet, but that day will come soon.

Wand of monster summoning until there’s no more space in the room was the cheese I recall using.
Yeah, boss fights in general kinda stink in that system, but you’re there for the story anyway. Needed more effort to show a sense of progress and maybe some UI elements to add drama, maybe even the cliche second health bar.
