Connect for Lemmy can also block by instance. Cleared all the porn out of my feed in a couple taps, it’s great.

No. Just block the communities you don’t want to see.
A feature to block entire instances is also coming to lemmy so use that instead of trying to wave around the ban hammer like the power tripping instances.
Or use Sync for Lemmy, it can also filter entire instances.

I hate this logic. If we weren’t supposed to defederate, then we shouldn’t have the option. It is a core feature of the fediverse. It can and should be used.
All of y’all who talk like this need to go back to Reddit. This is not Reddit. We need to use the tools available to us to keep out bad actors. Build up your own instance if you want to let every asshole through the door.
