I saw an article called "AI has access to a vastly larger working memory than the human brain" and laughed, because it doesn't matter if it fundamentally can't use it. AI models still cannot solve basic logic problems if you change the nouns, and are regularly unable to add two large integers together. There's zero excuse to continue to use and develop general purpose LLMs, yet here we are wasting trillions on a dead end tech that can't do 99.99% of what they say it can.

adanufgail@kind.social 7 hours ago LLMs have a few niches in which they excel, and they all fall under the broad "pattern recognition." LLMs should have been an industry about building niche models that can do amazing things very very accurately, not building slop machines that fail 50% of the time.
