One of the things I absolutely cannot stand in the modern Internet, and pains me extremely whenever I see it, is clickbaity titles.
My local media outlet excels at, every possible article title is an exercise in conveying as little information as possible.
"Drivers beware, this street will be closed!"
"This is what was found in one of the city parks"
"An important meeting will begin soon in the council"
"The police had to go in through the balcony!"
AAAAARGH
That's why I have vowed to myself, that whatever I write and publish, I will try to give it as anticlickbaity title as I can.

@stfn Considering everyone that has ever had even a single class dealing with news/journalism (as I did IN PRIMARY SCHOOL!) knows that the tittle is to contain as much information as possible in as few words as possible, I have long ago stopped considering anything even vaguely clickbaity as being actual news.
So your titles are a refreshing sight/read. 🙂
enobacon@urbanists.social 5 days ago @stfn but if they had information you wanted in the headline, people wouldn't click and journalists would need to show enough integrity to get people to subscribe? And even then, the news outlets would be vulnerable to getting purchased by those with enough money at stake to control the narrative. I wonder if preview_cards being half of a mastodon database size, yet having to way to audit or prune it, indicates that we're doing it wrong.
basdriver@basdriver.nl 5 days ago @stfn Another is reels that title “can’t believe this happened!” or “no way I caught this on camera!” and then you watch but nothing happens. I don’t get it, why does the algorithm even give me this crap? Now I just never watch it as I assume it’s either AI or nothing happens. Internet is fucked. 😟
