nmap saves the day! Yesterday we lost my son's tablet and looked around just about everywhere for it. This morning, I woke up and remembered a script I put on it in Termux so that I could remotely play "Wake Up Little Susie." The only problem remaining is that I needed it's IP address (and hoped that it was connected to my phone's hotspot!)
With nmap I was able to find it and remotely run the script and suddenly we hear "Wake Up Little Susie" from underneath the washing machine.
This was after 30 minutes of looking for different apps in android to scan the hotspot network and not finding anything useful that doesn't require root. Not being rooted meant I also couldn't use nmap in termux, so I just opened my laptop and connected to the phone's hotspot and ran nmap from there.
