someone put that on open-slopware please, I cannot spoons with their contribution requirements
last good one is 0.18.1; of the three commits I found so far, two are docs-only, and the third…
… I read it as if they used slop to create the configuration file for codespell, then ran codespell to fix the spelling mistakes in the code. codespell in ipso seems to not be slop, merely work similar to spellintian. And the changes are to comments and message strings only.
I think I’m willing to give the recent 0.19.0 release a pass with this, iff these three commits are really the only slop ones. It’s still burnt now, especially with that maintainer response, but one last upgrade seems slopfree enough when only looking at the built artefacts, except for the documentation for Nix and participation (as if anyone would want to participare in a slop-welcoming project anyway…).
Worse: when looking at this in detail, I found that it is Dr. Yaroslav O. Halchenko of Debian fame who introduced the slop, willingly, in “over a hundred of projects already” (quote from the initial PR submission). A neuroscientist (“Research Professor”), of all things, who ought to know better, too. So consider anything recently touched by him tainted by default as well *sigh…*
I guess FOSS is dead. Let’s roll back to old versions and stick with them, for most of the tech stack…
