I've got one of these in my folder of half-complete stories. Not sure how I'd be able to do it if I wasn't writing in first-person perspective, and even then I found myself having to go back several times when something gendered crept in.

@sam @soatok have you read John Scalzi’s Lock In?
It’s first person, but we never figure out that character’s pronouns. There are even two different versions of the audiobook, so you can’t look at the narrator.
