Hi, how do lists of posts by hashtags actually work in the Fediverse? There is no central repository with all the posts, so what decides which ones I see from my account / instance if I search or subscribe to tags?
I'm asking because we have this new GoToSocial instance, and I don't see our posts if I search by hashtag from another Mastodon account that I have.
Is there anything I can do to appear in people's hashtag searches or just wait for the federation magic to happen?

wordsmith@writing.exchange@writing.exchange 3 weeks ago @selecteh the usual way is when any person on your server follows/is followed by, or otherwise interacts with an account on another server, yours will then begin "federating" with that server, reading in its posts and accounts and showing hashtags. One can also configure a server to add others manually, and add "relays" which can provide a wealth of other servers to federate with.
