Sir Patrick Stewart was an incredible actor, a lovely man and a voice of reason.
Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X were lead roles in two of my favourite franchises for the past 20-30 years. He was incredibly gifted, and I loved watching him work.
He brought an enormous amount of gravitas and credibility to the roles, performances and characters he portrayed, that with most other actors is simply absent.
Especially in genre entertainment, where it becomes all too easy to fall into camp or glib delivery. And we have one final performance in Avengers Doomsday to look forward to.
I've had to stop myself from crying several times tonight.
I will miss him.
