Okay, now for reason two why we might be fucked:

The U.S. 10 Year Treasury Bond Yield: we are at 5.25%, 6% last occurred during the dot-com bubble around 2000 and in addition, the price of bonds is sinking.

The US government borrows money by issuing those bonds. Investors lend the government money and receive interest payments until the government repays.
The 10 year yield is the annualized return investors would earn by buying a US government bond at its current market price and holding it to maturity under the assumption that the government will pay back as promised.

The rising yield and sinking price means it's getting harder for the US government to borrow money and that investors are becoming more skeptical that the money will be paid back. It also means loans and mortgages will have higher interest rates, a 30-year mortgage is about 1:1 to the 10 year bond yield.  Make your own conclusions on what that means and what follows (and maybe also take a look at the CCC & Lower High Yield Rate while youre at it), because this is not even the point I was getting to:

The gold price is ALSO rising (J P Morgan predicts 6000+$ targets while we are currently at 4185$), for the first time as it is usually inverse to the yield.

Historically rising bond yield meant less interest in gold. There is no yield in holding gold or other rare materials, they just lay around. The value of them increases only when there is enough demand as gold is scarce and thats it, no interest is being paid. The reason the gold price usually decreases when there are high bond yields is that it is more appealing to get the high interest payments instead.

BUT GOLD PRICES ARE ALSO RISING.

It currently seems like the security of holding on to a lump of gold that pays NO interest is worth MORE than the absurdly high 5 to 6% yield when lending the US government money.
