Kreutz sungrazer C/2026 A1 (MAPS) has continued to brighten in a series of outbursts as it dives deeper into twilight. Its outgassing is now approaching a nucleus active fraction of ~2, i.e., at least half of the gas is from fragments/debris split from the nucleus rather than from the nucleus itself. What's not clear right now is if the nucleus is still actively fragmenting or if these outbursts simply represent the destruction of old fragments/debris. Either way, the comet has a ways to brighten, as there should still be enough ice for another ~4 mag outburst in gas coma brightness.
