Comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS) is now making its way between the Sun and Earth. Although the comet's dust looks quite faint compared to its gas emission right now, that will change in the coming days as we move into the sharp forward scattering peak of the dust grains. The presently magnitude 6 dust coma appears on track to reach a peak magnitude of 0 to −2 on April 25 at 173 degrees phase angle while 3.5 degrees from the Sun—likely still far too faint to see visually through daylight, but an easy target for space-based coronagraphs and a difficult one for ground-based imaging. Here's a view from the Lowell Discovery Telescope this morning.
