New music from Erykah Badu, Mike D, Shudder To Think, Baths, and more!

Some days you wake up to news that a bunch of your favorite artists have released new music. I often share these types of releases on social media, but there were so many great ones today that I decided to recap some of my favorites here, along with music embeds when possible. Let’s go!

Baths- 3 Negative Pop(?) Songs

A short new EP by Baths, following up last year’s Guts, 3NP? is a return to the much more solo-electronic sound of his earlier albums.

Erykah Badu & The Alchemist: “
Before the World Blows”

I’m a huge Alchemist fan, so I was excited to see his new collab with Erykah Badu, the queen of neo-soul. I’ll be honest, though, they announced this album with some horrible looking generative AI artwork… And again when Alchemist doubled down with his dumbass “you hate AI yet use a cell phone“-esque replies, I pretty much wrote the whole collaboration off for a while. I’m trying my best to give it a chance, but re-reading all that shit made me lose excitement again for this LP. If you’re a fan of Erykah Badu or Alchemist, give this one a listen and see what you think.

Shudder To Think: Who Sent You?

Seeing a new EP from Shudder To Think was a huge surprise. This album is due in late September, but the one track released so far is perfect for fan’s of their 1994 release, Pony Express Record.

Dose One: Sighting

Dose One announced a new album called Sighting, featuring Wino Willy & Zetroc on additional production. There’s only one track available right now, but you can sign up for the full album listening party next week.

Why: Oh Golly Yes Lord

I gotta mention Why? upcoming album Oh Golly Yes Lord coming in October. Only one track online at the moment, but many fans are excited about a possible return to Why?’s early sing rap style.

underscores – Unlimited Love ‎ (♫)

A new single from one of my favorite electronic artists. Underscores has always gotten me to into new genres of music that I had previously missed out on (like hyperpop, for instance). She’s always trying out new things too, so I have a feeling I’m going to like this track more and more once I sit with it for a while.

Mike D – Thank You

The first solo album from this Beastie Boys member. I have not spent much time with this record yet, but I’m excited to check it out. The entire album his been uploaded to this Youtube playlist with each track getting it’s own awesome lyric video.

Asher white: Love Aggregates

I saw Asher doing a live set on the Going Down show recently and instantly fell in love with the music. I’m not sure where to start, but this brand new album seems like a great place to start. Check out her live performance about 30 minutes into this great video.
