Interbay Microshelters
A very cool microshelter site is going in on that weird triangular lot behind Whole Foods and across from the Seattle Animal Shelter. It appears to be using Pallet S2 Sleeper 70 units, which have gone up very rapidly. I’m excited to see Mayor Wilson work to fulfill her promises.
Of course people who can see it from the hillside are Very Concerned over on NextDoor. Not sure where they think they should go? Plus this will probably help cover some of our neighbors who end up camping in the greenbelt, which I think would bother those concerned commenters more?
I walk by here between Kumon and the other shops, with my kid, all the time, and we should normalize tiny house villages and microshelters and public housing being part of our city landscape. It’s a pretty good location with access to transit (not to mention services at Interbay Place, operated by LIHI, which we donate to). A bit stroad (and train) noisy though.
Anyway I’m writing my council member in support to help balance out those NIMBY voices.
