Two sentence horror story (which also happens to be true):

I recently bought a motion-sensitive night light so that I don't have to turn on the big light if I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I'm not in its field of motion detection right now, and there's no other people or pets in the apartment — but I can see from the light it casts into the hallway that it just turned itself on.
