Allen Hutchison

I’m Allen Hutchison, an engineering leader with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of technology and innovation. As a Senior Director of Engineering at Google, I’ve had the privilege of building and managing cutting-edge AI developer experiences, leading my team with a focus on collaboration and a passion for excellence.

My journey in technology started long before I moved into leadership roles. With a background in software engineering, testing, and product development, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the technical challenges and opportunities that define today’s digital landscape. Throughout my career, I’ve stayed committed to innovation, continuous learning, and the belief that technology can solve some of the world’s most complex problems.

Outside of work, I’m devoted to my family, an aspiring woodworker and luthier, and a guitar enthusiast. I love finding ways to blend technology with my hobbies, whether it’s building custom guitars with the help of 3D modeling tools or exploring new ways to automate my creative process. I live in San Jose, California, with my wife Jenna, our son Tommy, and our playful dog, Cloudy.

In “Letters from Silicon Valley,” I share insights from both my professional and personal experiences, exploring the convergence of technology, life, and creativity.
