Charging Three Devices With One Brick A Year Later
A year ago I consolidated my entire charging life down to a single 100W GaN brick and three short cables. The verdict: I am never going back.
The setup lives in a small pouch. One phone charger brick with three ports covers the laptop at 65W, the tablet at 20W, and the watch trickle-charging on the third port. The wall socket is a shared resource in this house, and claiming one outlet instead of three has ended a surprising number of arguments.
Things I learned along the way: buy the brick with one more port than you think you need; heat is the enemy, so give the brick airflow or it will throttle; and label your cables by wattage, because they all look identical in a drawer.
The one purchase I did not expect to matter was a slim power bank with a built-in cable. It lives in a jacket pocket and has quietly rescued more dead phones at airports than I can count. For travel days, USB-C everything means one charger, one cable type, zero dongles.
Next on the list: replacing the last two micro-USB holdouts and retiring that drawer of mystery bricks for good.
