“Peace isn’t found. It’s chosen, one breath at a time.”
Peace doesn’t just happen. It’s not something that drifts in one morning and stays forever. It’s something I have to choose, Sometimes a hundred times a day.
There are mornings when I wake up calm, even the air feels still and my heart feels light. And then there are mornings when my mind wakes before my body does, racing through thoughts I didn’t invite, Trying to replay the past or predict a future I can’t control.
That’s when I have to remind myself, I don’t have to relive every thought that visits me. I can let them pass like clouds, Noticing them, Naming them, But not giving them the power to storm.
I’m learning peace isn’t found in perfect circumstances. It’s found in the pauses I create, The moments I breathe before I react. The times I forgive myself for falling apart and then gather myself up again.
Every day, I have to make quiet choices that build peace,
A walk instead of an argument with my thoughts.
Writing instead of worrying. Small things, But they add up. This has become my armor, Soft, Steady, And my own.
Peace sometimes feels like silence. Other times, it feels like laughter that escapes before I realize I’m smiling again. On the days that are hard, it feels like not giving up, Like whispering, “Try again tomorrow,” even when today was heavy.
I mistook peace for a destination, now it’s practice. It’s the way I talk to myself when I make mistakes. It’s the boundaries I set, The people I let close, The things I no longer explain to those who not to understand.
Peace doesn’t mean that everything is fixed. It means I’ve decided not to let everything break me anymore.
There will be times fear knocks on my door, The memories will creep in time to time, I’m learning to let them knock, Let them fade, Then return back to myself.
Peace doesn’t come from the world around me; it’s coming from what I’m building inside. From the women who is choosing not to stay buried in the heartbreak. From the mother who will stay strong and show up, Even on the hard days. From the survivor who decided that healing is her own kind of rebellion.
Every day I am choosing peace, not because it’s easy, But because I know what my life is like without it.
And even when my world feels uncertain, even when I cross paths with the past, even when I don’t know what comes next, I will continue to choose peace.
Peace is freedom, And freedom is the truest form of becoming.
