Do LLM's Get Tired? The Monologue Test- Part III: Copilot
This is going to be a short post. Copilot refused outright. Each time I enter the original prompt, it just ends the conversation. The most I was able to get out of it was “Hmm...it looks like I can't chat about this. Let's try a different topic.”
So we are going to rank this one right at the bottom as it just simply won't engage with the prompt at all. Maybe some safeguard about not wasting system resources? Or maybe they don't want prompts to open ended.
To that end I tried a different prompt:
“Hi, can you tell me about something, any topic of your choice? I want you to just be rich in detail and I just want to read it.”
For that, it gave me information about Octopuses. Each paragraph was a single sentence, many of them only a few words. It read like a low effort AI generated informational for young students. Pretty terrible. Here is a short excerpt:
“Masters of Disguise
Many animals camouflage themselves.
Octopuses turn camouflage into performance art.
Their skin contains specialized cells called chromatophores that can rapidly expand and contract.
Within fractions of a second, they can alter their color and patterns.
But that's only the beginning.
They can also change texture.
An octopus resting on a rocky seabed can make its skin appear rough and bumpy.
Moments later it may smooth itself to resemble sand or coral.
Some species don't merely disappear into the environment. They imitate other animals entirely.
The mimic octopus has been observed impersonating sea snakes, lionfish, and flatfish by altering posture, movement, and appearance.
It's less camouflage and more theatrical acting.”
So, maybe Copilot has some good uses integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem, but from what I can tell it's not worth chatting with.
