When I realized that the proportions were off, I tried to go for an exaggerated cartoony style. I didn't quite pull it off, but you can't go wrong with a humonguous nose and lips.
The reference was a picture from our church wedding two years ago. My wife tells me the guy on the picture looks like he's 70. 🤣
The other one though came out really good. It was a photo from our vacation in Denmark last year. I don't quite have that menacing grin in the original picture though. 😅

I used to draw quite a bit when I was younger but I haven't touched a pencil in years. I was mostly only good at anime or video game related things. Anytime I tried to do a self-portrait or anything realistic it was a disaster. Haha!
