🚗 How to commute
There are few various options how to get to the Le Diamant from the international airport of Martinique: take a taxi, rent a car or use a local public transport – bus. We've been renting a car for around 100 EUR for 2 days including the gas price (ca. 85 + 15 EUR the car and the gasoline correspondingly). And if you want to check various part of the island quickly as well as without issue during the weekends or holidays, I would recommend going for this option, if possible. Otherwise, it's possible to go pretty everywhere and pretty cheap by bus: you can find the local routes and prices here.
🏨 Where to stay
One could either stay at various hotels and resorts or rent a villa as well as an apartment. Multiple options are available across the island, with lower prices on the northern part of the island (as it's more remote and has worse beaches).
We've been renting a 2-level 3-bedroom apartment (for 2 families – 2+3 people) with a terrace and a swimming pool on the premise, just ca. 12 minutes walk from the main beach of this small town. We were supper happy with the place and the host, and can definitely recommend it.

🍽️ What and where to eat
4 main options to choose from are available for you: – buy products from a supermarket (there are few big Carrefour as well as Auchan supermarkets there) or a local market and cook yourself; – buy some ready meals from the same supermarkets; – visit various cafés and small restaurants; – or try local markets' and street food.
Because we've been visiting Martinique during the public holidays most cafés and restaurants were unfortunately closed, so we had to buy either ready dishes or products from Carrefour as well as fruits and vegetables from local markets and eat at home. But we were pretty happy with prices and quality of the food :)
-Carrefour Genipa – is a huge supermarket with amazing variety of products and ready-made dishes. It's located in a shopping mall where also is a food-court with some local fast food.

👀 What to do and what to see
If you can rent a car it is worth to explore the island as much as you can, it's just beautiful: multiple beaches, national parks and forests, mountains, and much more!

Check various beaches and go snorkeling – we've been to 3 beaches – Grande Anse du Diamant, Grande Anse d'Arlet, Anse Dufour – and enjoyed each of them as well as their underwater world with tropical fishes, starfishes, turtles and more.

Swim with turtles at one of multiple beaches. We did it at Anse Dufour.

See Hummingbirds if you are lucky anywhere on the island or at the Jardin de Balata, where they are not only flying around, but also are fed with syrup, so it's guaranteed that you'll see many of them at the single place. The gardens “Jardin de Balata” themselves also worth a visit!

Visit Fort-de-France and check the old city as well as the harbor area including the fort itself.

There are also some other possible things to do like check the memorial Cap 110, or a wildlife park “Savane des Petrifications”, walk for a hike or to see waterfalls (for ex. at Saut gendarme) as well as visit various sugar/cane plantations or Rum distilleries (for ex. Habitation Clement) and much, much more.
💡 Some highlights
- The climate of Martinique is just amazing: not to hot and humid, but comfortably warm with fresh breeze and a lot of fresh air.
- The center of the island is a mountain area where the temperature is like 5-10 degrees lower than near the shore. So, if you want to cool down, go to the mountain side!
- As Martinique is a French territory, you will enjoy the EU-Roaming without any additional costs :)
- You can pick some mangos, coconuts and others tropical fruits pretty everywhere for free!
