đźš— How to commute

You can flight to both Cannes or Nice international airports, and then commute with public transport to the city central station, which is the best and the most affordable option. From the “Côte d'Azur” Nice Airport you can reach Cannes either with train TER or bus #81. Both options will take around 45 minutes, but the train will go mostly along the sea and will provide you with comfortable coaches with air conditioning as well as the incredible views.

Tickets could be bought either on the platform or online (you'll need to register an account with ZOU for that), and prices got increased in June 2026. Public transport in the city includes buses and trams, as well as trains and buses for inter-city travels.

🏨 Where to stay

We've been staying at the “Le Cetai Cannes Beach Hotel” (previously “Hotel Amarante Cannes”) located a bit far from the beach line (like around 1.5 km and ca. 20 mins by foot uphill). It has a swimming pool and the price/quality ration was better than other hotel around could provide. The hotel was going through renovation in 2025: the rooms as well as the terrace and swimming pool were already renewed, but some common areas including the lobby were still not renovated. In general, we liked the place and the spacious, modern room. The only problem was the almost full absence of Wi-Fi in the room (in the lobby area and terrace it was working, but pretty poorly). The service team was trying to fix the issue with the Wi-Fi, but we just ended up using our mobile network (thankfully, we have no roaming in EU and could use our internet packages included in the paid plan).

🍽️ What and where to eat

There are plenty of cafés, and restaurants, as well as fast food chains and take-away tasty dishes and snacks from supermarkets available in Cannes. Although we've noticed that food selection and quality is much worse in Cannes than in Nice and going to cafés and restaurants is also more expensive. As this time we've been in Cannes during the conference, we were having breakfasts and dinners mostly at various events we were visiting. But for lunch we mostly needed to go somewhere. Some days we bought tasty dishes and pastries for take away from supermarkets like MONOPRIX and Carrefour, which were available here as well as in Nice. When it was too hot outside, we ordered via Deliveroo or Uber Eats. We also have been to KFC once and to few other places like Copenhagen Coffee lab, China Town fast Food Here are a few places we liked:

  • MONOPRIX with multiple location in the city, where you always can buy some hot and not food for takeaway as well as pastries. You also can buy there fresh seafood to cook yourself if it's possible (though we haven't done this).

  • LM Delivery you can order food from to be delivered to you via Deliveroo or Uber Eats. c

  • KFC is a highlight because of tacos, which we tried for the 1st time at KFC and were supper happy about: c

đź‘€ What to do and what to see

  • Walk around the city harbor. There are also nice promenades you can enjoy in both directions from the harbor area. c c c c c c c c

  • Walk around the city and enjoy some historical and cultural sightseeings as well as architectural and cultural landmarks like Carlton Hotel and Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes. c c c c c c c

  • Go swim. There are 2 main beach areas: on the right and on the left from harbor. If you don't want to pay for swimming, we'd recommend going right, because on the left side there is a tiny public beach and then multiple beach clubs, where you'll have to pay entrance fee or buy drinks and food for some min. amount. The water is clean and refreshing everywhere though :) c c c c c c

  • Go for 1-day trip to Nice, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins or to other cities of the French Riviera (or CĂ´te d'Azur region). We've been to Juan-Les-Pins where we went for diving with EASY Dive. c c c c c

Other things to do include: – Visiting a night market at the harbor. c c

  • Chilling at the rooftop bar of the Hilton Canopy with amazing view. c c c c c

  • Taking a boat ride and visiting LĂ©rins Islands.

đź’ˇ Some highlights

  • It's super hot in Cannes at the end of June -beginning of July: it was 40 degrees Celsius like half of the day many days in a row. Make sure to have an opportunity to cool down either in the sea or in the swimming pool.

c

  • We were surprised, but Cannes turned out to be much-much worse than Nice: more expensive, with worse food and beaches as well as hotter weather. Everything including accommodation, public transport, grocery, meals in restaurants etc. were cheaper and better in Nice!
