Music is not inherently benevolent, in fact using it for force is always a last resort, in any shape.
I make Techen as well, specifically to fire up my input into mixing soul drum loops into a listenable light techno style, which I think lifts up without any suffering at all by measure of groove of flow. Without being directly soul music, without the crush of raw techno.
- Techen is a method, not a fixed sound. Its identity comes from varied beat structures and how the elements function together.
- The source material remains alive. Pitched, bent, cropped, or bitcrushed breaks can retain their organic character rather than being forced into mechanical uniformity.
- Function over form does not mean form is irrelevant. Form earns its place by serving the groove, the movement, and the piece as a whole.
